I love lists and I use them to help keep my mind free of clutter and to help plan out the big projects I want to implement in my business. I have long term lists, mid term lists and “this week” lists. I figure once I have an idea and write it down, it will get done. Maybe not today, but when the time is right. The other advantage of writing it down is I then don’t have to remember it! I have limited capacity to store ideas in my head and want to use the available space for the important and urgent stuff that needs my focus to get done NOW.
Henry Ford once said that “the biggest goal in the world can be achieved if you break it down into enough small steps, and then take one step at a time”.
If you have a really big project in your business that you want to achieve and think it is too daunting to achieve, try writing down all the things you need to do in order for the project to be completed. Confucius said “A journey of a thousand leagues begins with a single step”, so take that first step and don’t worry if you can’t see the end or if it is the exact right one. That first step will give you the feedback as to whether you are on the right track and will also give you the confidence to continue on. It may also give you new ideas on how to improve the project and what step 2 should be. Help you be more creative.
So, write down your big project on paper; break it down into as many small steps that you can think of, and take the first step. Maybe that first step is to contact me and book a 1-hour planning session. If so email me HERE or go to my website at www.tradescoach.co.nz
